All National Parks in India
India is truly a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. From the snow-capped Himalayas in the north to the lush rainforests in the northeast, vast deserts in the west, and rich coastal ecosystems in the south, India’s National Parks protect a dazzling variety of habitats and wildlife species. These protected areas play a crucial role in conserving the country’s rich biodiversity, endangered species, and unique landscapes.
India’s very first National Park, Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, was established way back in 1936, setting the foundation for wildlife conservation in the country. Today, India proudly hosts over 100 National Parks, each offering a unique window into the wild — whether it’s the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger in Sundarbans, the one-horned rhino in Kaziranga, the Asiatic lions in Gir, or the snow leopards of Hemis.
These parks not only protect animals but also help preserve indigenous flora, sustain rivers and climate balance, and provide eco-tourism opportunities that benefit local communities. Visiting a National Park is like stepping into a living jungle book — you witness nature’s drama unfolding in real-time.
To help you plan your next wildlife adventure or study Indian biodiversity, here’s a complete, easy-to-read state-wise table of all National Parks in India. Enjoy exploring — and remember, every visit supports conservation!

Total Land Area of India:
India’s total geographical area is about 3.287 million square kilometers (or 328.7 million hectares). This makes India the 7th largest country in the world by land area!

Land Covered by National Parks:
Currently, India has over 106 National Parks, which collectively cover around 1.35% of the country’s total geographical area.
In numbers, this is roughly 44,378 square kilometers of land exclusively protected as National Parks.
Fun fact:
If you include Wildlife Sanctuaries, Conservation Reserves, and Community Reserves, then about 5% of India’s land area is under some form of protected area network.
This shows how India is working hard to conserve its incredible wildlife and unique ecosystems — from tigers and elephants to rare plants and birds!
